Hiroshima Artist Brush Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a long-established brush maker dedicated to creating products that not only meet its customers' needs, but also bring together creativity, quality, and inspiration through craftsmanship developed over 140 years.
The unique features of its Kumanofude® makeup brushes lie in the use of natural animal hair and a traditional technique that preserves, rather than cuts, the tips of the hairs—a method passed down from over 200 years of calligraphy brush-making.
The natural hair creates an exceptionally smooth touch to the skin, and the uncut hair tips allow the bristles to glide effortlessly across the face while holding makeup effectively between the hairs, ensuring excellent product retention. Foundation applied with these brushes spreads thinly and seamlessly, resulting in a beautiful glow and long-lasting wear.

About the Products
KIMERI - A New Brand of Makeup Brushes
With the concept of “OTONA KAWAII” (sophisticated cuteness) and a strong focus on craft, the kimeri series features folding brushes with wooden handles and newly designed brush shapes.
Inspired by Kumano’s history of travelling brush merchants, the folding design protects the bristles without a case, is easy to clean and stays compact for travel. The series also reinterprets everyday “KAWAII” (cuteness) through craft, offering small, beautiful, hand-made brushes with soft bristles and familiar forms, created in the hope that the brushes themselves inspire communication.
The wooden handles are crafted from Japanese zelkova and North American walnut, shaped individually by Yamanaka woodturning artisans, and the small wooden components are made using offcuts from tableware production.
MAKIE - Portable Luxury Makeup Brushes
These portable luxury makeup brushes combine quality and function. The powder and cheek brushes use silky grey squirrel hair for a soft, gentle touch, while the lip brushes feature firm, luxurious weasel hair for smooth, precise application. Each handle is adorned with a maki-e style design, a traditional Japanese lacquerware art form in which designs are sprinkled on with gold or silver powder.
Kumano Brush - Japanese-Style Makeup Brush Set
Offering an unparalleled soft touch and a satisfyingly smooth finish, this set of three brushes rolls compactly in a kimono-fabric case inspired by the KonMari method. It was also recognised at the Charming Japanese Souvenir Contest 2011, organised by the Japan Tourism Agency.
