About the Exhibitor

KAMEOKA MIZUNOKI CRAFTS brings together the small museum, Mizunoki Museum in Kameoka, Kyoto, and local artisans to create a new form of craft.

Located in a rural city just 20 minutes by train from Kyoto Station, the Mizunoki Museum preserves over 20,000 artworks created at the Mizunoki Painting Class, a program launched in 1964 for residents of Mizunoki, a facility for persons with disabilities.

The KAMEOKA MIZUNOKI CRAFTS was launched in 2023 in collaboration with local companies and makers, transforming selected works by popular artists from the museum’s collection into everyday items such as bags, patch-adorned postcards, and baked goods. These playful and distinctive motifs are given new life as tangible, accessible art for everyone.

A portion of sales supports the Mizunoki Facility for Persons with Disabilities and the Mizunoki Museum.
